This card appeared on eBay in July 2025 with a Buy-It-Now price of $649.99. The thing about silver is that it tarnishes. Over time, that shiny silver bar will look pretty bad. I've seen some cards that are just a few years old, and they've already started to discolor. While pure gold won't tarnish, 14K gold is an alloy and it may darken a bit over time. So even though these cards may look great right out of the pack, they will likely lose their luster over time.

In 2022, Panini released their ultra ultra high end product called Panini Eminence. These boxes sell for around $20k each, and feature cards with precious gems, as well as gold and platinum bars embedded directly in them. And forget about the ultra high end sets like Panini Flawless that only had a half ounce of gold in some cards. Panini Eminence goes for a FULL ounce of 14K gold. Pure gold is currently selling for around $1750 per ounce, so an ounce of 14K gold is worth just about $1000. This particular card comes in three flavors. The most common version has a silver bar and is numbered to 10, and the platinum 1-of-1 card has an ounce of solid platinum embedded in it.

The platinum 1-of-1 card shown to the left sold for a cool $1650 in September 2022. That may sound like a lot, but keep in mind that a box of 2022 Eminence contains only 10 cards (9 that are autographed). So, if a box sells for $20k, the average price of a card in that box is $2000.  Also, note that the remaining boxes of 2021 Eminence have a price tag of $30k to $35k. In fact, this ounce of solid platinum is a little less valuable than an ounce of 14k gold. Pure gold is selling for around $1670 per ounce --- but 14k gold is only around $950 per ounce. And for the record, an ounce of pure platinum sells for around $855 per ounce.
